Since 1970, RL Equipment has evolved alongside the needs of our customers. What began as an agricultural equipment business in Verner has grown into a destination for powersports, marine, tractors, lawn and garden equipment, and power equipment.
Today, RL Equipment is a family-owned and operated dealership representing some of the most trusted names in the industry, including Yamaha, Honda, KTM, John Deere, G3, Stanley, Bad River Boats and Duckworth.
We're proud of where we've come from, but we're even more proud of what has remained the same: knowledgeable people, quality products and honest customer service.
RL Equipment has called Verner home for more than five decades.
In 1995, we opened a second location in North Bay. Two years later, we made the decision to close that location and return our focus to our original Verner dealership.
The reason was simple: growth was happening faster than the customer experience could keep up.
We chose to stay focused on one location so we could maintain the personality, service and relationships that had always defined RL Equipment.
That decision continues to shape who we are today.
We're not trying to be the biggest dealership in Ontario. We're focused on being a dealership our customers are proud to do business with.
RL Equipment began with Raymond and Lorraine Brouillette and remains a family business today. The company is now in its third generation of Brouillette family ownership.
Our dealership has been part of the Verner community since the early 1970s. We continue to serve customers throughout West Nipissing, Sturgeon Falls, North Bay, Sudbury and communities across Northern Ontario.
From powersports and marine to tractors and outdoor equipment, we represent brands chosen for their reputation, performance and long-term value.
Our relationship with customers doesn't end when they leave the showroom. Our sales, parts and service teams are here to help you get the most from your equipment for years to come.
More than five decades in the industry means we've seen products, technology and customer needs change dramatically. That experience helps us ask the right questions and find the right equipment for the people who walk through our doors.
Raymond Brouillette and his brother Jacques signed a contract with John Deere to sell agricultural equipment from their lumber yard location on Highway 64. The business was known as Brouillette Bros.
Raymond and Jacques dissolved their partnership, with Raymond retaining the John Deere equipment business. The operation moved to its current Highway 17 location in Verner and became known as Verner Equipment.
The company was incorporated as R.L. Equipment Sales and Services Ltd. The "R" represented Raymond and the "L" represented his wife, Lorraine.
RL Equipment became a Yamaha snowmobile and motorcycle dealer, marking an important step toward the recreational products that would eventually become a major part of the business.
John Deere stopped producing snowmobiles just as the ATV market began to take off. RL Equipment began moving more heavily into recreational products, helping shape the dealership we know today.
The dealership received its first building addition, creating more room to serve customers and support the growing business.
RL Equipment became an Arctic Cat snowmobile and watercraft dealer, expanding its recreational product offering.
Yves Brouillette, Raymond's son, purchased the company. In the fall of 1995, RL Equipment opened a second location in North Bay.
After several years of rapid expansion, RL Equipment made the decision to close its North Bay location and concentrate its efforts back in Verner.
The goal was to protect something more important than growth: the customer experience.
To meet changing customer needs, RL Equipment became a Honda dealer. At the same time, the dealership moved away from agricultural equipment and focused its John Deere offering on compact and utility tractors, grounds care equipment and lawn tractors.
A new addition created our current parts and accessories showroom, giving customers greater access to the parts, equipment and accessories they needed.
RL Equipment received its first Yamaha Five Star Dealer award. The dealership has maintained this recognition ever since.
Another warehouse was added to provide additional showroom space and flexibility. A cement loading ramp was also built to make customer loading and unloading safer and easier.
A final building addition increased our capacity for parts and accessories, helping us better serve the growing number of products and customers we support.
RL Equipment became a G3 boat dealer, expanding further into the marine market.
Stanley boats joined the RL Equipment lineup.
RL Equipment added Skeeter boats to its marine offering.
Robin Brouillette, Yves's son, purchased the company, continuing the Brouillette family's ownership into its third generation.
RL Equipment became a KTM dealer, adding another leading name to its motorcycle lineup.
Today, RL Equipment is a destination for customers looking for powersports, marine, tractors and outdoor equipment throughout Northern Ontario.
